J & J Bettas

Our Bettas

These fish are the foundation of our breeding lines.  It is                                                                                    always a challenge to find quality bettas but we imported                                                                                    a number of fish from Thailand and are building up quality                                                                                    through selective breeding.

The Boys

Flashy and full of bluster these boys are showy as can be!

Black and White Halfmoon Butterfly

On of my favorites, he is really a stunning fish and photographs just don't do him justice.

Black/Red/White Halfmoon Butterfly

Our "Cover Model".  When I first saw this guy I had to have him, it didn't really matter that he was an ocean away!  We put together an entire order with the sole purpose of acquiring this one fish.

Halfmoon Blue Butterfly

This is definitely not the best quality picture of this guy, but our camera quit before I spawned him and I don't want to take another picture until his fins grow back in properly.  As you can see from the picture above his body shape is excellent, and when he flares he is almost perfectly circular, definitely one of our best fish.

Green

This is one of our little pet projects, emerald green bettas that breed true.  In the mean time this line is throwing some pretty nice fish so we will keep everyone updated.

Halfmoon Blue/Black Butterfly

A pretty buy with nice finnage, because he shares genetics with our blue butterfly male he will be used for partial out-crossing in F2.  In the mean time we  have spawn him to one of our blue females to see exactly what he produces.

Opaque

Picture Coming Soon!

His spawn is currently growing up and looking good with 90% clean so far!  He, like so many opaques, is a mellow guy.  He did not even leave a mark on his mate when they were put together and tended to his nest diligently for a first time dad, we were quite impressed with him (and his offspring) and may use him in some of our other breeding programs.

Copper Halfmoon

Picture Coming Soon!

This guy has huge fins, stunning but will probably be need to scaled back in some future generations.  We are hoping he will produce a high percentage of halfmoon offspring given his extraordinary finnage, but you never know with halfmoons.

Mustard Gas

Picture Coming Soon!

Not a bad looking guy, and has produced some very nice offspring with a good percentage of halfmoons.  As per usual with mustard gas nowadays there is a mix bag of traditional Yellow/Blue/Black butterflies (like dad) as well as the Red/Blue color combinations, we are enjoying watching these guys grow out.

The Ladies

As all good breeders know it is the quality of your females that really influence your lines.  We looks all over for our girls and only use the best females available to us.

Black/White Butterfly Spawn Sibling

This little girl came to us with our black/white butterfly male as a paired spawn sibling.  She is a feisty little devil and we are quite enjoying what she brings to our lines.

Black/Red/White Halfmoon Butterfly

This photo was taken in the spawning tank so she has a few nips on her fins, but she is one pretty lady!  She is a full halfmoon when she extends her tail and has a nice butterfly pattern.  Right now we are using her to develop our Black/Red/White line, but we plan to spawn her to our Black/White male soon so that we have an outcross line when we need it.

Green Halfmoon

As green as they come, this little girl is the foundation of our green line and if she reproduces her coloring in her offspring we will be well on our way.  As an added bonus her finnage is stunning, better than some males I have see, and she is a full halfmoon so we have high hope for her offspring.

Blue with Butterfly Geno

Still just a youngster, but very promising.  As she continues to grow up she keeps on impressing us and we plan on breeding her back to her father (Blue Butterfly) in hope of producing some really nice Halfmoon Blue Butterflies.

Marble

Good color on this gal, lots of variation.

Mustard Gas

Picture Coming Soon!

Traditional Yellow/Purple/Black, like many of our other females she has great finnage.  Her most recent spawn has a number of halfmoons in it, and a number of offspring have already developed good size fins

Opaque

Picture Coming Soon!

This little lady is pure white with no translucent in her fins what so ever.  So far her offspring are looking good and we plan to use her as the foundation for another line we have in the works, but we are keeping that one under wraps for now.
